I understand why but I kinda think that was the point. James spader is NOT a comedian, he’s quite an intense and intimidating actor. The feeling he brings does not match with the show but I think that’s was the creators trying something new and experimenting.

Almost no charm, they all become caricatures of themselves, no development (like Andy or Dwight) or things that are completely out of character (like Pam being mad at him for providing a better life for their family, knowing that it wouldn’t be that busy forever)every season gets progressive worse after 4, besides the last season which was better than the penultimate but not by much
